October was a great month as campus huddles are now back in full swing and our Night of Champions and Woodlawn outreaches were a success.
AG High huddle in in a new room has been going great!
At the end of September we had our Annual Campus Kickoff Leadership training at the Ventura’s home in AG, and by the start of this month most all of our campus huddles were going strong. We have a whole new group of leaders being trained and running ministry at their schools.
Leading a team building activity with the Nipomo High FCA Club
Ryan and Olivia have been doing a great job building and working directly with our high school campus ministry teams. We have had over 604 students involved with the high school ministry already this year.
Night of Champions
We hosted our annual Fields of Faith/Night of Champions outreach this month at Atascadero & Arroyo Grande High Schools. This outreach is always one of my favorite events of the year because of the way it gives students the opportunity to speak to their peers, share their testimonies and challenge others toward faith in Christ. We had 14 students make a first time commitment to put faith in Christ this year and over 90 students rededicate their life to Christ and commit to read his word on a regular basis!
Dance competition final at Atascadero High
At Atascadero High the night began with a fun dance competition and a hip hop performance with Bodie Wade and his group who opened our time of worship. Students then shared testimonies of God's faithfulness in their lives and then former Softball Olympian, Vanessa Duhon, shared a message about finding one's identity in Christ. I got to give the closing gospel invitation and it was exciting to see students respond.
Arroyo Grande High
Mason sharing his testimony at AG High
At Arroyo Grande High we had an all student band who did a wonderful job leading the group in worship. I was so proud of all the students speakers who shared! They were so articulate and inspirational. One young man named Lucas shared how he gave his life to Christ last year at this event and how he has been on fire for the Lord and no longer struggles with depression like he had throughout most of middle school and high school. Ryan Teixeira shared about his battle with cancer and how his faith in Christ has sustained him through this challenging time in his life, challenging us to all be grateful for the many blessings in our lives. You pastor, Eric Bozeman, gave the gospel invitation and it was a powerful night!
Cal Poly Ministry
Asst Basketball Coach Mitch Reeves spoke at Large Group mtg.
Cal Poly ministry has been exploding. Relationships have been deepening as a core group of 45 athletes (this is 3x larger than last year) have been getting involved through our weekly Large Group meeting and team Bible studies. We have been seeing students get saved and plugged into discipleship. A coaches' Bible study has also started on Monday nights with seven coaches in attendance. So of them are involved as a result of the athletes influence in their coaches lives. God is working!
Some of the girls involved in the women's Bible study.
Katie has started meeting with girls providing one-on-one discipleship, accountability and encouragement. She and Amber Pettit (AIA Staff) have started a girls weekly Bible study. They have about 16 girls attending, and have been blown away with what God has been doing in these girls lives.
Katie officially joined FCA staff in May and we are continuing to raise funds for her position
. She is now at 23% of her monthly needs and has been a huge asset to the team. It has been awesome seeing how God's is using her in female students lives and I am so thankful for her. Please pray for God's provision in this area of the ministry.
At the end of this month, we got to visit Katie’s parents in South Carolina. We went camping, fishing, and shrimping. Katie's dad even took me hunting for the first time and I got my first 120lb hog!
Katie's parents had some of the people who helped shape her in her high school years over for dinner. It was fun getting to know them and being able to share life and what God is doing through FCA.
During this season we want each of you to know how thankful we are for the investment that you have made in our lives. We rely on your love and your prayers more than you know.
